Usually pretty good but not great over the festive period. Order forgotten and food cold when it arrived. Staff nice and friendly though
Love this place. we go normally once a week as a family. The day time menu is standard but the night time menu is a must try. I'd recommend the Sunday Lunches, Macaroni Cheese and the Steaks are beautiful, The cocktails never disappoint. The staff are friendly and the service is great. Even the guys in the kitchen pop out to say hi and make sure my son is enjoying his macaroni cheese!!
Haig's consistently offers the best restaurant food we've eaten in the 16 years we've lived in Penicuik. The dishes are not the most sophisticated cuisine, but everything is excellently prepared and presented. Clearly they have a skilled chef who cares. Add to this the excellent beer from Stewart Brewing, and it all makes for a great night just a short walking distance from home. No need to go into Edinburgh now.
Had a lovely first visit to Haig's. Bar manager, sorry didn't get your name, was very responsive to our needs. Really nice bar/restaurant, we enjoyed the food, lovely wines and cheeses. Fab coffee. Lovely waitress. Complimentary first drink due to a wee wait was much appreciated. Thank you. Definitely recommend.
Great local haunt. Delicious cocktails, tasty fresh local food and nice surroundings. The risotto with fish is gorgeous. I've sadly come across rude staff 2/6 of the times I've been in which let's itself done a touch.
